GPU-Based Real-Time Voxelization Algorithm for Volumetric 3D Color Display

  • 摘要: 为了使基于旋转屏的彩色体三维显示设备在显示动态场景时实时且高分辨率、高质量地实现圆柱体空间彩色体素化,提出了一种基于GPU的算法.首先在长方体空间内完成对三维场景的实时彩色体素化,将生成的数据保存于多张纹理工作表中;然后采取多对多映射的方法对这些工作表进行重采样,得到该场景在圆柱体空间内均匀的彩色体素化结果.实验结果表明,该算法在GPU内完成,达到了实时性要求,并在基于LED旋转屏的体三维显示设备上获得了令人满意的三维虚拟场景再现效果.

     

    Abstract: Real-time high-resolution voxelization of the 3D scenes in cylinder space is one of the key issues in display of dynamic scenes on swept volumetric 3D color display in terms of rotational motion of a surface.In this paper,a GPU-based algorithm is proposed for high performance color voxelization in cylinder space.By the algorithm,firstly,the 3D scene is voxelized in a uniform cubic space and the produced data are stored in several textures.These textures are then re-sampled through many-to-many mapping,producing the uniform color voxels in cylinder space.The proposed algorithm runs real-time on GPU,and experimental results on a volumetric 3D display based on rotating LED surface show that the algorithm is promising.
