Pedestrian Flow Driven by Navier-Stokes Equations

  • 摘要: 为提高虚拟场景的真实感,在表现类似水流的宏观人群行为时将人群类比为流水,基于流体动力学的知识建立一个实时模拟系统.通过数值方法求解描述二维流体的Navier-Stokes方程组,计算出速度场信息用于驱动人群的行走;在仿真过程中支持用户实时修改参数,通过调整全局速度场达到交互式控制人群的目的;绘制人群时采用层次结构来平衡绘制效率和绘制质量.该系统可以根据绘制精度和个体距离视点的远近,自动地在高层次的几何细节模型和低层次的Impostor图像绘制模式之间切换.最后通过实验给出了多股人群交汇、人群蜿蜒行走等动画效果.

     

    Abstract: To improve the reality of virtual environment,a real-time pedestrian simulation model based on fluid dynamics is implemented by taking a pedestrian flow as a water flow.By numerically solving the Navier-Stokes equations which describe 2D incompressible fluid,a velocity field which is used to drive the movements of pedestrians is obtained.To render thousands of agents in real time,a LOD hierarchical model is employed to balance between computational time and rendering quality.Switch between detailed mesh models and impostor images are automatically realized according to the distance between agents and viewpoint.Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed approach can simulate real-time flow-like pedestrians efficiently.
