Computer Generation of 3D Cartoon Splash

  • 摘要: 针对手工绘制卡通溅水效果费时费力的问题,提出一个计算机自动生成的三维卡通溅水模型.首先构建溅水喇叭形曲面的母线方程,然后旋转得到溅水曲面,再根据手工绘制溅水的形状特征构建溅水的动态纹理并映射到溅水曲面上;空中零散水花则用少量控制点和样条曲线拟合其形状,然后分类布置在溅水曲面周围并用Billboard技术绘制各个水花.实验结果表明,采用文中模型生成的卡通溅水动画不仅保持了手工绘画的艺术感,还把卡通溅水扩展到三维空间,并能够通过调整参数控制溅水效果的激烈程度.

     

    Abstract: Animating splash effects is a time-consuming task in cartoon.We present a model for automatic generation of 3D cartoon splash.First,we construct a parabolic curve and use it to form a surface as the underlying model of the splash,then we model dynamic textures for the splash with the spline based on the features of hand-drawn water splash.As for spray forms surrounding the splash surface,we model them with a few control points and interpolate them with the spline according to their shapes.Spray forms of varying shapes are finally rendered on the billboard distributed around the water splash.Our method extends the splash animation to 3D space while retaining the style of hand-drawn cartoon.Moreover,our model allows high-level parametric control over the splash effect animations that change from gentle to violent.
