Persistent naming of topological entities is one of the key technologies for developing independently-copyrighted parametric feature modeling systems. A method and the relative mechanism of the complete hierarchical naming has been proposed progressively from original names to reference names. In the first step, the general mechanism of original name design and naming propagation was analyzed. Then, a method of hierarchical design and identification for reference name was put forward by comprehensively leveraging the effective information from the design process. Finally, an OpenCasCad-based prototype system was developed in order to verify our method. Experiments demonstrate that our method can effectively address the ambiguity problem of referencing topological elements. In addition, our hierarchical dynamic mechanism has the quality of superior scalability.
