Visualization of Ensemble Scalar Field Data

  • 摘要: 集合仿真作为一种可以有效地模拟物理现象不确定性的方法,被广泛应用于各种不同的领域.为了更好地解释集合仿真产生的复杂数据,已经涌现出了一些有效的可视化方法,然而目前缺少一个统一的框架对这些工作进行梳理.针对集合仿真数据中最常用的集合标量场的可视化工作,从信息提取、趋势分离和可视映射3个维度进行综述和讨论,并提出了现有工作存在的问题和未来可能的研究趋势.其旨在为集合标量场可视化问题提供一个全面且概括的认识视角,并帮助初涉这个领域的研究或工程人员快速了解当前研究情况、找到自己需要的技术或研究点.

     

    Abstract: As an effective method for simulating the uncertainty of physical phenomena,ensemble simulation is widely used in various fields.To better explain the complex data generated by ensemble simulation,many effective visualization methods have emerged.However,one important research gap is the absence of a unified framework to organize these works.This paper reviews and discusses the visualization of ensemble scalar fields from three perspectives:information extraction,trend separation,and visual mapping,and points out the existing problems and possible research trends in the future.This review aims to provide a new and comprehensive insight to understand the design space of ensemble scalar field visualization and help the new-comers in this field to quickly understand the current research and find the technology or research point they need.
