Survey on 3D Reconstruction of Transparent Objects

  • 摘要: 透明物体的三维重建一直以来都被认为是很有挑战性的问题.不同于传统重建算法对物体表面的漫反射属性假设,因为透明物体与光线之间存在复杂的,如反射和折射等,与视角相关的光学效应,将导致传统重建算法无法直接应用在透明物体上.文中简要介绍透明物体的三维重建相关研究,围绕从X恢复形状、反向渲染技术、断层摄影技术和直接光线测量这4个方面回顾了近些年来的主要研究工作,分析并指出当前工作的优缺点以及不同的应用环境,展示了这一挑战性问题的研究现状和发展趋势,并探讨了未来有潜力的研究方向.

     

    Abstract: 3D reconstruction of transparent objects has long been considered as a challenging problem.Different from traditional reconstruction approaches which usually assume the diffuse reflection properties of target objects,because of the complicated view dependent light effects,such as reflection and refraction etc.,between light and transparent objects,it will directly lead to failure while applying traditional reconstruction methods to transparent objects.This survey briefly introduces related works about 3D reconstruction of transparent objects.It reviews the main research works in recent years which are summarized into four categories:shape-from-X,inverse rendering,tomography,and direct ray measurements,respectively.T`he advantages and disadvantages,and various applicable environments of each category will also be analyzed and elaborated.After that,we will show current research status and trends along this direction,and then discuss and explore the possible future follow-up research ideas.
