Abstract: Augmented reality development has achieved remarkable progress over the past few years,and breakthroughs have been made which attribute to the popularity of smart mobile devices.As a new human-computer interaction technology,augmented reality more intuitively display physical objects and data in real-world scenes.Therefore,an increasing number of researchers is exploring how to combine data visualization with augmented reality.This paper systematically introduces the current progress in mobile augmented reality technology,and the achievements that have been made in applying AR to data visualization.The feasibility of applying AR in data visualization is also discussed by analyzing multiple cases.Finally,challenges and opportunities in the combination of data visualization and augmented reality are summarized.
