Abstract: A new nonlinear structure tensor calculation method is presented. We extend the trace-based PDE regularization method to matrix-valued data fields. Then, we filter the structure tensor with it and get the trace-based nonlinear structure tensor. This new structure tensor has been successfully applied in noise removal. Experimental results show that our method can produce better results robustly.
