Abstract:
A 3D hierarchically parametric design approach is proposed to increase the efficiency of designing cast-in-place concrete structures of large complex industrial building. This approach constructs a hierarchically parametrical model consisting of interrelated sub-models, to represent the cast-in-place concrete structures which can be decomposed into various sub-structures according to material, function, or location. With a profound analysis of the history-based parametric feature modeling method, a new change propagation mechanism and rebuilding strategy is developed to support rapid design and modification. The proposed method has been implemented in a commercial 3D CAD system called InteRDS, and the application results show that the design efficiency of this approach can meet the needs well in practice.
